To manage your account and lessons, we process your email address, display name, language, time zone, requests and feedback. Private feedback is not published and is intended for your Sensei. Reviews are published only when you explicitly choose, using the name you provide. You can withdraw a public review in your account.

Scheduling takes place on this website. In the lesson room, audio, video and shared screens are transmitted to the other participant through our self-hosted video service. Connection data such as IP address, device information and room assignment is processed. There is no automatic recording. Your camera and microphone are used only after you allow access.

When you sign in with Google · Opens in a new tab, we receive your name and email address to create your account or sign you in. Google also provides information about international data transfers · Opens in a new tab.

Optional video backgrounds are processed in your browser. Required files load from our website; your camera is not sent to an additional service for this.

If you enquire about teaching, we receive your name, email address and teaching experience by email. We use them to review your enquiry and contact you. You can request deletion at info@nihongomeet.com.

We process the information needed to handle your requests and provide the agreed lessons. Protecting accounts and the website is in our legitimate interest. Public reviews are based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time for the future.

We keep your information for as long as it is needed for your account, lessons and related support. When you request deletion, we also review messages and backup copies. Some information may still be needed to meet legal obligations or address specific outstanding claims.

You and your Sensei can exchange messages, images and links in private chat. They are automatically deleted after 14 days. Save materials you wish to keep on your device in time. Encrypted backups may retain deleted content until replaced by newer daily backups. We retain at most 14 successful daily backups and use them only for recovery.

The website runs on a server managed by us at OVHcloud. Your selected Sensei and the responsible administrators receive the information and messages needed for lessons and support.

We use essential cookies for sign-in and security. With “Keep me signed in”, your sign-in lasts up to seven days and may be extended through active use. Your language preference stays in your device’s local storage until you change it or clear browser data; it is also saved in a cookie for up to one year. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

You can request access to, correction or deletion of your data · Opens in a new tab and, where applicable, restriction of processing, object to processing or request data portability. You can download your account data from your account. For other requests, write to info@nihongomeet.com. We respond within one week.
